The CHED Medical Scholarship 2024-2025 is open to Apply for all eligible college students in the Philippines. Recently, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has announced the opening of Application timeline for CHED Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) program via a Facebook post.
The CHED Medical Scholarship program is an initiative by Commission on Higher Education to help Filipino students studying in the medical fields.

CHED Medical Scholarship 2024
The CHED Medical Scholarship program is a financial assistance given by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to eligible college students to help them pursue their education in the Medical fields.
This scholarship program is available to all eligible college students studying in the State universities and colleges offering Doctor of Medicine. Students who apply for this scholarship program must be willing to undertake the mandatory Return Service program.
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is calling in applications from all eligible college students to apply for CHED Medical Scholarship for the Academic year 2024-2025.
Number of Slots Available
As per the CHED Scholarship notification, there are 500 new slots available for deserving students for CHED Medical Scholarship program.

CHED Medical Scholarship Benefits
CHED Scholars who qualify for CHED Medical Scholarship program will receive Financial Assistance, Internship programs and Enrollment to many programs.
Financial Assistance
Following is the list of financial assistance provided by CHED to eligible scholars:
- Tuition and Other School Fees (TOSF)
- Subsidy and Allowances
Tuition and Other School Fees (TOSF)
- For SUCs – Actual TOSF subsidy shall be provided to the scholars to be paid directly to the SUC by the concerned CHEDRO; and
- For PHEIs – Actual TOSF subsidy shall be provided to the scholars to be paid directly to the PHEI but not exceeding 100,000/semester. The concerned PHEI shall provide the counterpart fund for the balance in excess of 100,000/semester.
Subsidy and Allowances
The Subsidy and Allowances which shall be given to the scholars through the SUC/PHEI by concerned CHEDRO is as follows:
Allowances Per Semester
CHED Scholars will receive a total of Php 88,500.00 as financial assistance per semester, which are as follows:
- Books Allowance – Php 13,000.00
- Clothing / Uniform Allowance – Php 3,500.00
- Miscellaneous Allowance (to include Connectivity Allowance) – Php 6,000.00
- Living Subsidy (5,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 30,000.00
- Lodging Allowance (5,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 30,000.00
- Transportation Allowance (1,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 6,000.00
Allowances Per Academic year
CHED Scholars will receive a total of Php 177,000.00 as financial assistance per academic year, which are as follows:
- Books Allowance – Php 26,000.00
- Clothing / Uniform Allowance – Php 7,000.00
- Miscellaneous Allowance (to include Connectivity Allowance) – Php 12,000.00
- Living Subsidy (5,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 60,000.00
- Lodging Allowance (5,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 60,000.00
- Transportation Allowance (1,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 12,000.00
Internship Program
The Internship program / 5th year Medicine to be given directly to the scholars or through the SUC / PHEI by Concerned CHEDRO, as follows:
Allowances Per Semester
CHED Scholars will receive a total of Php 66,000.00 as allowances per semester, which are as follows:
- Living Subsidy (5,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 30,000.00
- Lodging Allowance (5,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 30,000.00
- Transportation Allowance (1,000 x 6 mos.) – Php 6,000.00
Allowances Per Academic year
CHED Scholars will receive a total of Php 148,000.00 as financial assistance per academic year, which are as follows:
- Living Subsidy (5,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 60,000.00
- Lodging Allowance (5,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 60,000.00
- Transportation Allowance (1,000 x 12 mos.) – Php 12,000.00
- One-time Board/Licensure Examination Review and Application Fees – Php 16,000.00

Enrolment in to various programs
CHED Scholars who are qualified for the scholarship will get enrolment to the following programs:
- National Health Insurance Program in the amount prescribed by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) to be paid directly to PHIC quarterly by concerned CHEDCO/RO; and
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Accident Insurance to be paid directly to GSIS annually by concerned CHEDCO/RO.

Qualifications for Scholarship
Following is the list of qualifications required to apply for CHED Medical Scholarship program:
- Applicant must be a Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines
- Graduating student or a graduate of an appropriate undergraduate program identified as a prerequisite for a Doctor of Medicine degree and currently enrolled in Doctor of Medicine degree, from any HEIs duly recognized by the CHED, including a direct entrant to the integrated liberal arts and medicine (INTARMED) program;
- Obtained a National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) score mandated by the CHED and required by the SUC/PHEI;
- Must have Passed the entrance examinations and complied with other related requirements for admission into a Doctor of Medicine degree in any of the Participating SUCs/PHEIs.

Documentary Requirements
Following is the list of documents required to apply for CHED Medical Scholarship:
General
- Proof of Filipino citizenship such as any government-issued document showing proof of Filipino citizenship, including, but not limited to a certified true copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registry or Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)/ Philsys ID;
- Certificate of Good Moral Character;
- Additional requirements for priority groups (as applicable):
- Certification of Residency issued by the barangay;
- Certification as members of indigenous people or minority group/ National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) certificate;
- Tax Exemption/Tax declaration (from BIR) or social case study duly signed by a registered social worker where the applicant resides;
- Certification issued by the DOH-Bureau of Local Health Systems and Development that the applicant is a dependent of community health volunteer; and
- Certification from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that the applicant is from the calamity-prone and conflict areas.
Specific
- Certification of Acceptance from SUCs/PHEIs; and
- Affidavit of no existing scholarship grant.
Medical Scholarship and Return Service
Students who are going to apply for the scholarship must be willing to undertake the mandatory return service program preferably but not limited to those who are:
- residing in municipality without government physicians;
- residing in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) or from the top twenty percent (20%) provinces and/or municipalities as identified by the PSA, calamity-prone and conflict areas;
- residing in low-income class municipalities with high poverty incidence;
- belonging to the ethnic group or indigenous population/communities as certified by respective local government units and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP);
- dependents of community health volunteers; and
- those whose combined annual family income is less than Php450,000.00.

How to Apply for CHED Medical Scholarship
All interested and eligible college students can submit their application for CHED Medical Scholarship 2024-2025 program through their HEI on or before the deadline date.
