The OWWA Scholarship 2024-2025 is open to apply for all eligible Grade 12 Filipino students. Recently, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration has made an announcement post on Facebook, by calling in applications for the EDSP – Education for Development Scholarship Program and CMWSP – Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program.

The Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) are one of the Scholarship programs by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) group. The OWWA group promotes the welfare and wellbeing of Filipino workers who are employed abroad. So, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration provides various scholarships opportunities, insurances, and educational opportunities for Overseas Filipino Worker and their dependents.

What is Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)

The Education for Development Scholarship Program, EDSP OWWA Scholarship is a scholarship grant offered to qualified beneficiaries/dependents of OWWA Members who belong to the top examinees of the OWWA pre-qualifying examination administered by Department of Science and Technology Science and Education Institute (DOST-SEI) and intend to enroll in chosen baccalaureate course in any college/university within the Philippines.

EDSP OWWA Scholarship provides a financial assistance with a maximum of ₱60,000.00 per school year until the completion of the 4-5 years baccalaureate course.

There are two programs under EDSP OWWA Scholarship, which are as follows:

  • EDSP 1 – For all New Incoming first-year college students
  • EDSP 2 – For all 2nd to 5th year college students

Qualifications to apply for Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)

Following are the qualifications required to apply for Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) Scholarship:

  • The applicant must be a child of an active OWWA member; or Sibling of a single or married but childless active OWWA member.
  • The applicant must be Single.
  • The applicant must be not more than 21 years old for Incoming 1st year college and 30 years old for 2nd to 5th year college
  • The applicant must be grade 12 graduating student.
  • He or She must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% or its equivalent
  • Must submit academic of grades 9, 10, & 11 in ANY of the following official documentary form:
    • Form 137;
    • Form 138; or
    • Transcript of records
  • Must have no failing grades
  • Must be enrolled in a Philippine-based college / university

Documentary Requirements for EDSP Scholarship

Following are the Immediate Documentary Requirements for Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) Scholarship:

  • OFW Valid Government Issued I.D.
  • Applicant’s Valid I.D. (government or school-issued I.D.)
  • Proof of Grades (Grade 11) i.e. Form 137 / Transcript of Records (TOR), Form 138, or Certificate of Grades
  • 2×2 ID pictures
  • Birth Certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
  • Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) (For Single OFW whose dependent/applicant is the sibling)
  • OFW Declaration of No Child Dependent (For Married OFW but childless)

Please note that these requirements include the documents which should be prepared and submitted once the scholarship applicant is officially informed that he/she passed the pre-qualifying process or examination.

Number of Slots Available

The Total EDSP Slots starting SY 2023-2024 is 1600.

What is Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)

The Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) is an OWWA Scholarship program extended to deserving migrant workers and/or their immediate descendants of OWWA members who intend to pursue courses in the priority fields in Science and Technology.

CMWSP Scholarship provides a financial assistance with a maximum of ₱60,000.00 per school year until the completion of 4-5 years baccalaureate course in any college/universities within the Philippines.

PCSO regulates the funding for this program through a replenishable allocation released to and maintained under a separate account by the OWWA Secretariat.

Qualifications to apply for Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)

Following are the qualifications required to apply for Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) :

  • He or She must be a deserving Migrant Workers (active OFWs) who are not more than 45 years old.
  • He or She must be the Children of active OFWs who are below 21 years old.
  • He or She must be a should have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% without failing grades or within 20% of graduating class for children of OFW and no failing grades if OFW.
  • The applicant must have Annual Family gross income of $2,400.00 – ₱130,000.00*.
  • He or She must be the Alternative Learning System passers under the Continuing Education Program – Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) with an average of at least 85% or its equivalent as certified the DepEd Accredited Schools.

Documentary Requirements for CMWSP Scholarship

Following are the Documentary Requirements for Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP):

  • The OFW Passport I.D.
  • 2×2 ID pictures
  • Birth Certificate authenticated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
  • Form 137/ Certified true copy of Form 138/ Transcript of Records (TOR)
  • Any Proof of Family Income i.e. (Income Tax Return, Pay Slip, Overseas Employment Contract (OEC), and others as applicable

Application Deadline

Opening date of online application for OWWA scholarship is November 20, 2023.

The deadline for Education for Development Scholarship Program, EDSP OWWA Scholarship 2024 Application is January 15, 2024.
