OWWA to provide ₱75,000.00 Repatriation Financial Assistance

OWWA announced to provide Repatriation Financial Assistance. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) came forward to help Filipinos repatriated from Lebanon. The Department of Migrant Workers earlier announced a Financial Assistance of ₱50,000 to the families of Filipinos coming from Lebanon.

Announcement of Financial Assistance

A recent news article at the PhilStar suggest that the Financial Assistance given to families of Filipinos from Lebanon is increased from ₱50,000 to ₱150,000. Out of this ₱150,000, OWWA will cover ₱75,000 and DMW will cover ₱75,000.

The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon has taken necessary steps to bring back Filipinos from Lebanon to Philippines safely. Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac – in an interview at Malacañang announced that “All documented and undocumented Filipinos will receive the Cash Aid”.

Cacdac also clarified that only Filipinos from the “war-like areas” are going to receive this Cash Assistance of ₱150,000.

Advisory to Filipinos in Lebanon

The Philippines Embassy in Lebanon has recently issued an advisory urging all Filipinos to evacuate the country while the airport remains operational.

Recent reports state that 15 OFWs and three children who were affected by the escalating tension in the Lebanon, safely reached at the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City on August 17, 2024. The 15 OFW voluntarily requested for repatriation and received immediate assistance and reintegration support upon their arrival in the Philippines.

How to Claim Repatriation Financial Assistance

The Department of Migrant Workers issued an online link for Filipinos from Lebanon for Repatriation Assistance. For more information, checkout this Facebook post of DMW.

Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, has announced that along with this Cash Aid, the Department of Social Welfare will provide livelihood and financial assistance and TESDA – Technical Education and Skills Department Authority will grant training vouchers.

Reports state that the officials from Labor, Agriculture and Tourism fields are also preparing assistance for repatriated Filipinos.
